Sawai Padmanabh Singh, a member of the erstwhile Royal Family of Jaipur, also visited the RDTM exhibition and interacted with participants.

Focus on Experiential and Year-Round Tourism

Secretary Tourism Shuchi Tyagi highlighted the changing preferences of domestic travellers, with visitors increasingly looking beyond conventional tourist circuits towards authentic and experience-led journeys.

She said Rajasthan has significant potential across segments such as weddings, rural tourism, wildlife, eco-tourism, wellness, adventure, spiritual tourism, monsoon travel and MICE. The state’s tourism strategy is focused on developing Rajasthan as a year-round destination while promoting lesser-known destinations, emerging circuits and local experiences.

According to Tyagi, expanding tourism beyond established destinations can help increase visitor length of stay while spreading the economic benefits of tourism among local communities, artisans, entrepreneurs, homestay operators, guides and other stakeholders.

Commissioner, Rajasthan Tourism, Rukmani Riar said RDTM 2026 is aimed at strengthening domestic tourism and generating new business opportunities for tourism stakeholders, particularly in the context of the prevailing geopolitical environment.

She also highlighted the initiative of taking RDTM to different districts of Rajasthan to showcase lesser-known destinations and local tourism products. As part of the current edition, delegates are being introduced to different facets of the state through curated experiences, including the architecture of Amer Fort, Rajasthan’s sporting heritage through polo, and handicrafts showcased by Rajeevika artisans.

Expanding Opportunities for Wedding and MICE Tourism

President, FHTR, Surendra Singh Shahpura, described RDTM as a significant platform for Rajasthan’s tourism industry and highlighted the growing opportunities in wedding and MICE tourism.

For the first time, wedding planners from across the country have been invited to participate in the mart. FHTR has also been entrusted with organising the first Marwar Travel Mart, creating another platform to promote the tourism potential of the region.

Shahpura also underlined the importance of connecting rural areas with tourism in line with Rajasthan’s tourism policy, with the potential to generate greater opportunities for investment and employment.

B2B Meetings Connect Buyers and Sellers

The exhibition has also set the stage for two days of pre-scheduled B2B meetings between registered buyers and sellers. Buyers are meeting exhibitors at their respective booths to explore Rajasthan’s accommodation, destination, experiential tourism and other hospitality offerings and discuss potential business collaborations.

Around 300 travel agents from across India and more than 700 properties and tour companies from Rajasthan are participating across nearly 160 pavilions.

A new dimension this year is the participation of the events and wedding industry, providing an additional platform to promote Rajasthan’s art, culture, heritage and cuisine, particularly from lesser-known destinations.

The exhibition will remain open until 19 September, with the exhibition opening to the general public on the final day.

RDTM 2026 is being organised by the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Rajasthan (FHTR) in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan. The event has received support from tourism and hospitality associations including HRAR, RATO, IHHA, IATO and ADTOI, among other national tourism organisations.

The CREDAI Tourism Wing has also joined this year’s edition, contributing to initiatives aimed at supporting tourism development.

With its focus on business networking, emerging destinations and experiential tourism, RDTM 2026 seeks to strengthen Rajasthan’s position in the domestic travel market while creating new opportunities for tourism and hospitality stakeholders across the state.
