6th Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart inaugurated at Amer Fort, Rajasthan showcases new opportunities in domestic tourism

Jaipur, September 17, 2026: The sixth edition of the Rajasthan Domestic Travel Mart (RDTM) 2026 was inaugurated on Thursday at the historic Amer Fort, bringing together tourism and hospitality stakeholders to showcase Rajasthan’s diverse tourism offerings and strengthen domestic tourism opportunities.

Organised by the Federation of Hospitality & Tourism of Rajasthan (FHTR) in association with the Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan, RDTM 2026 is being held from September 17–19 at the B.M. Birla Convention Centre, Jaipur. The three-day mart is being conducted under the theme “Stories, Journey, Smiles”, highlighting Rajasthan’s heritage, culture, hospitality and evolving travel experiences.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Tourism Commissioner Rukmani Riar, IAS, emphasized the importance of moving beyond Rajasthan’s established tourism circuits and creating new consumer products and experiences.
She highlighted the need to develop emerging domestic markets and promote experiences around wildlife, wellness, adventure, local culture and community-based tourism, while encouraging the industry to innovate and build products that extend visitor stays and spread tourism benefits to more destinations and communities.
Tourism Secretary Shuchi Tyagi, IAS, said that changing traveller preferences are creating new opportunities for Rajasthan. Travellers today are increasingly seeking authenticity, local experiences, food, culture, lesser-known destinations and more responsible and sustainable ways of travelling.
“For us as a government, the larger objective is not just to increase the number of tourists but to attract investment. What we want to build is a very enabling tourism ecosystem that creates jobs, strengthens local businesses, promotes our culture and heritage, and ensures that the benefit of this growth in the tourism sector reaches every corner of the state,” she said.

She further noted that Rajasthan is witnessing growing investor interest and new tourism projects across the state, creating opportunities for employment and local economic development. The focus, she said, is on more visitors, greater local participation, longer stays and a stronger tourism value chain.
Rajasthan’s diversity—from its majestic forts and palaces to wildlife, nature, spiritual tourism, destination weddings, cuisine, fairs and festivals, rural experiences and the desert—provides the state with a wide canvas to develop new tourism products.
The Tourism Department is also working with industry stakeholders to promote destinations beyond the traditional tourist circuits and encourage investment in underexplored segments of tourism.
Surendra Singh Shahpura, President, FHTR, underlined the role of the tourism industry in creating opportunities for local communities. He stressed the importance of collaboration between hotels, resorts, DMCs, travel companies and other tourism stakeholders in promoting new destinations and ensuring that tourism growth translates into greater local employment and economic benefits.
The inaugural evening at Amer Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, also featured cultural presentations and networking among tourism stakeholders, setting the tone for three days of business interactions and destination promotion.

RDTM has evolved into an important platform connecting hotels, travel agents, tour operators, destination management companies and other tourism stakeholders, creating opportunities for business partnerships and showcasing the breadth of Rajasthan’s tourism products. The 2026 edition is expected to further strengthen these industry connections and promote new opportunities in domestic tourism.

With the festive and wedding season approaching, the mart also provides an opportunity for the trade to develop and promote curated experiences around festivals, traditional cuisine, shopping, local experiences and destination weddings, while opening new avenues for Rajasthan’s tourism and hospitality sector.
RDTM 2026 will continue at B.M. Birla Convention Centre, Jaipur, until September 19.
