Amazing Thailand Grand Diwali Festival 2026 to Illuminate Three Thai Provinces Throughout November
One of Thailand’s key international visitor markets, recording more than two million arrivals annually. The Grand Diwali Festival offers an opportunity for Indian travellers to celebrate the festival away from home while experiencing Thailand’s hospitality, culture, shopping and entertainment.
TAT takes Diwali celebrations to an international platform
The Tourism Authority of Thailand has played an important role in expanding Diwali celebrations from a community-led initiative into a major cultural event under the Amazing Thailand brand. The 2026 edition builds on this momentum, extending the celebrations across three provinces over an entire month.
The initiative also seeks to strengthen Thailand’s appeal among Indian travellers by combining festive traditions with tourism, cultural exchange, shopping and entertainment experiences.
Major shopping destinations join the celebrations
Leading retail destinations across Thailand will host festival activities and offer special promotions and privileges throughout the Diwali season.
Central Group shopping centres will participate through Central Bangrak in Bangkok, Central Festival Pattaya Beach in Pattaya and Central Festival Patong in Phuket. ICONSIAM will host celebrations at River Park along the Chao Phraya River, while EMQUARTIER will welcome visitors at Quartier Avenue in Bangkok’s Sukhumvit district.
The participating destinations are preparing festive offers and shopping experiences designed to appeal to Indian visitors, particularly during the holiday season, when shopping and gift-giving are an integral part of Diwali celebrations. The festival also coincides with the beginning of Thailand’s peak tourist season.
Bangkok celebrates its cultural heritage in Little India
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration will co-host all four Bangkok celebrations, highlighting the city’s historic Indian community in Phahurat, popularly known as Little India.
The Diwali celebration along Khlong Ong Ang has been organised in partnership with the Indian Association of Thailand since 2022. This year’s edition, themed “Threads of Faith,” will run from 20 to 24 November.
On 24 November, three significant cultural and religious observances—Loy Krathong, Dev Deepavali and Gurpurab—will coincide on the same full-moon night, creating an opportunity to showcase Thailand’s cultural diversity and shared traditions. The celebrations aim to further establish Little India as a vibrant cultural landmark in Bangkok.
Building momentum towards 80 years of Thailand–India diplomatic relations
Thailand and India will mark the 80th anniversary of their diplomatic relations in 2027. The longstanding relationship is rooted in shared historical connections, cultural traditions, spiritual links and growing economic cooperation.
The milestone presents opportunities to deepen engagement across tourism, trade, investment, education and people-to-people exchanges between Thailand and India. IAT and TITTA will work with public- and private-sector partners to develop a year-long programme of celebrations in 2027, creating further avenues for collaboration between the two countries.
An invitation to celebrate Diwali in Thailand
The organisers extend their warm Diwali greetings to Indians worldwide, the Thai-Indian community and friends of India. Visitors are invited to experience a month of festive celebrations featuring diya-lighting ceremonies, devotional music, Indian cuisine, cultural performances, Bollywood concerts and festive markets across seven major events in three Thai provinces.
With free entry at every venue, the Amazing Thailand Grand Diwali Festival 2026 promises to bring communities together through the spirit of light, culture and friendship.
Happy Diwali! Shubh Deepavali!
