Switzerland Tourism Appoints Indian Cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues as Friendship Ambassador for India
The partnership aims to inspire a new generation of Indian travellers to explore Switzerland beyond its iconic attractions, across all four seasons.
Bengaluru, 16 October 2026: Switzerland Tourism has appointed Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues as its new Friendship Ambassador for India, marking a new chapter in the destination’s engagement with Indian travellers. The announcement was made in Bengaluru in the presence of Martin Nydegger, CEO, Switzerland Tourism, along with members of the media and travel industry.
A favourite among Indian travellers for generations, Switzerland has long been associated with cinematic landscapes, honeymoon holidays and family vacations. As travel preferences evolve, Indian visitors are increasingly seeking more personalised, active and immersive experiences.
Jemimah Rodrigues represents a new generation of Indians who combine a global outlook with a strong connection to their roots. Through this association, she will explore Switzerland from her own perspective, showcasing its diverse experiences, cultural heritage and lesser-known destinations to Indian audiences.
Commenting on the partnership, Martin Nydegger, CEO, Switzerland Tourism, said India remains an important long-haul market for Switzerland, particularly in strengthening year-round tourism in its mountain regions. He highlighted Jemimah’s energy, warmth and ability to connect with people as qualities that make her an ideal ambassador for engaging younger travellers and encouraging them to seek authentic, personal travel experiences.

Jemimah Rodrigues said representing India has always been special to her and expressed excitement about discovering Switzerland beyond its familiar attractions. She looks forward to meeting local people, exploring new places, trying different activities and sharing her experiences with audiences back home.
India ranks among Switzerland Tourism’s top 10 source markets. The partnership will also highlight its Travel Better philosophy, encouraging visitors to stay longer, explore more regions and discover both popular attractions and hidden gems. Over the course of the association, Jemimah will experience Switzerland across spring, summer, autumn and winter, showcasing how the destination transforms with each season.
Christian Schoch, Director India, Switzerland Tourism, noted that the partnership provides an opportunity to showcase Switzerland’s diversity throughout the year, from its different regions and seasonal experiences to destinations beyond the traditional highlights. He added that Jemimah’s curiosity and adventurous spirit align with the organisation’s vision of encouraging travellers to explore more deeply and travel better.
The announcement was accompanied by the launch of a campaign trailer featuring Jemimah’s journey through Interlaken and Zurich, with Switzerland’s public transport network playing a central role in connecting the destinations.

In Interlaken, Jemimah experienced an exhilarating jetboat ride, tried Swiss chocolate-making and visited Ballenberg, the open-air museum that showcases the country’s cultural heritage. Her journey also took her to Jungfraujoch, where she experienced snow for the first time against a spectacular Alpine backdrop.
In Zurich, she explored the city’s contemporary side through a run along its streets, an e-bike ride, an excursion on an e-boat and a relaxed picnic, experiencing the seamless blend of urban life and nature.
The journey also highlights the convenience of Switzerland’s public transport, which connects cities, mountain destinations and regions, allowing visitors to explore independently and at their own pace. Whether travelling solo, independently or with family, visitors can discover Switzerland through flexible and well-connected travel experiences.
The campaign trailer offers an initial glimpse into a broader journey that will unfold throughout the association. As Jemimah explores Switzerland across all four seasons, the campaign will combine iconic attractions with lesser-known experiences, inspiring Indian travellers to venture beyond familiar itineraries.
Through this partnership, Switzerland Tourism aims to strengthen its connection with the next generation of Indian travellers and encourage them to explore more of the country, travel throughout the year and discover their own Switzerland.
