Bintan Island Strengthens Focus on India’s MICE Market, Hosts Corporate Decision-Makers Across Diverse Industries
Corporate FAM trip showcases Bintan’s accessibility through Singapore and its potential for meetings, incentives, off-sites and leadership retreats
Bintan, Indonesia, September 2026: Bintan Resorts, Vanilla Hospitality and Air India, the airline partner, jointly organised a corporate familiarisation trip to Bintan, Indonesia, from 2 to 6 September 2026, bringing together senior corporate representatives from a diverse range of industries.
The delegation included representatives from the pharmaceuticals, life sciences, energy, manufacturing, consumer goods, aviation, hospitality, travel services and event-management sectors. The programme offered participants an opportunity to experience Bintan first-hand and assess its potential for corporate meetings, conferences, off-sites, employee engagement programmes and leadership retreats.
Located in Indonesia’s Riau Archipelago, Bintan Resorts is conveniently accessible by ferry from Singapore, enabling Indian corporate groups to combine international air connectivity with an island destination. During the FAM trip, participants experienced the destination’s resort portfolio, meeting and event facilities, dining experiences and a range of group activities.
The itinerary also demonstrated how business programmes can be complemented with team-building, wellness, recreation, nature and beachfront experiences, creating opportunities for companies to combine productive meetings with employee engagement and experiential travel.
Commenting on the growing demand for experience-led corporate events, Mr. Abdul Wahab, Chief Operating Officer, Bintan Resorts, said, “Corporate events are becoming increasingly experience-led, with Indian companies looking beyond conventional venues to offer employees and leadership teams something distinctive and memorable. Bintan Resorts has the capacity and flexibility to cater to this demand across different group sizes and programme formats. Its accessibility through Singapore, combined with its meeting infrastructure and diverse experiences, makes it a strong choice for Indian corporates seeking both purpose and impact from their events.”
The FAM trip was part of Vanilla Engage, an initiative by Vanilla Hospitality that connects corporate decision-makers with destinations and hospitality partners through first-hand experiences. The programme enabled participants to evaluate Bintan from a practical planning perspective and explore how its hospitality, venues, activities and experiences could be integrated into future corporate programmes.
Mr Farhat Samuel Roberts, Head of Sales & Strategic Partnerships, Vanilla Hospitality, said, “Destination decisions are far more informed when corporate planners can experience the product themselves. Through Vanilla Engage, our aim was to move beyond a conventional presentation and allow participants to understand how Bintan could work for their own teams and business requirements. Bringing decision-makers directly to the destination creates more meaningful conversations and helps translate interest into practical programme possibilities.”
The familiarisation trip underlined the potential for Bintan Resorts to strengthen its presence in India’s outbound MICE and corporate travel market. It also demonstrated the role of collaboration between destinations, hospitality partners and airlines in connecting Indian corporate decision-makers with emerging international options for meetings, incentives and events.
With its combination of accessibility, resort infrastructure, meeting facilities and experiential offerings, Bintan is positioning itself as an island destination that can cater to both the business and experiential elements of corporate travel.
